Dual HIAB lifts
When a load is too long or awkward for one lifting arm, two of our HIAB lorries share the lift, each with its own trained driver, working to one plan.
Some loads are simply too long or too awkward to balance on one lifting arm. In a two lorry lift, a HIAB sets up at each end of the load, and the two drivers raise, move and lower it together so it stays level from start to finish.
Hiab Haulage is a Manchester based HIAB company carrying out these shared lifts on sites across England, Scotland and Wales. Both lorries come from our own fleet with our own drivers, so the team on the day already works together.
A shared lift also helps where a load has to be turned or kept perfectly level as it goes into place, such as a long unit sliding into a fenced compound or a steel frame being stood up beside its fixings.

A shared lift needs more planning than a single one, and all of it happens before the vehicles are booked. We look at the load, where it is being collected from, where it is going and the space each lorry needs to set its stabilisers. If the load is long, it may travel on an extendable trailer or an articulated flatbed, with the two HIABs meeting it on site for the lift.
What it is, its size and how it is built. Drawings and photos help.
We decide where each lorry stands and how the load is slung.
The drivers set up to the plan and agree signals before lifting.
The load is raised, moved and set down level in one controlled lift.

From steel frames on a construction site to units lifted into a fenced compound, these shared lifts are a regular part of our work. Our drivers hold CPCS cards and work to ALLMI guidance on every job, and our FORS Bronze fleet is run with safety at the heart of every booking. Because both lorries and both drivers are ours, the lift is coordinated by one team from the first enquiry to the final set down.

Two lorry lifts are often part of a wider job. These services regularly use them:

Long, wide or unevenly balanced loads are often best lifted by two lorries, one at each end. Tell us about the load and we will plan the right approach.
The lift is planned before the vehicles are booked, and on the day both drivers follow that plan, communicating throughout so the load stays level and under control.
Steel frames and beams, long modular sections, freezer and cold store units, long cabins and large machinery are among the loads we lift this way.
Often, yes. Photos of the site and the access help us decide where each lorry sets up and how the load is brought into place.
Send us the size of the load, the collection and delivery addresses and a few photos. We will plan the lift and send you a price.
