HIAB lifting a steel beam from an artic trailer

Steel and precast

HIAB steel delivery and precast concrete across the UK

Beams, columns, frames and precast units collected from the works and lifted off on site by our own lorries and trained drivers.

Construction HIAB

HIAB steel delivery for beams and frames

Hiab Haulage carries structural steel for fabricators, steel erectors, stockholders and main contractors. We are based in Manchester and deliver to construction sites, factories and yards across England, Scotland and Wales.

Our lorries carry their own lifting arm, so the beams arrive on the same vehicle that lifts them off. The driver sets up, lifts each piece from the bed and lands it where your team needs it, ready for the next stage of the build.

  • Universal beams, columns and channels
  • Portal frames, trusses and arch sections
  • Steel stillages, fixings and bundles
  • Canopy steel and long sections

Precast concrete

Precast concrete delivery with a planned lift

Precast units are heavy, often have cast in lifting points and need landing with care. Before we book the vehicle we ask about the units, how they are lifted and where they are going, so the right lorry arrives and the driver can set the stabilisers on firm ground.

  • Slabs, panels and stair units
  • Kerbs, culverts, chambers and drainage sections
  • Retaining wall units and blocks
  • Reinforced units with exposed bars

A slinger can travel with the load when the job needs one. Send us the details and up to four photos through the steel and precast quote form.

From the works to the site

Rigid HIABs suit shorter runs of beams and precast units, while artic HIABs, wagon and drag HIABs and extendable trailers carry longer and larger loads.

Loading inside the works

Many of our steel jobs start inside a fabrication shop. The lorry drives into the works, the driver lifts the finished steel onto the bed and secures it, and the load heads straight to site. It saves double handling and keeps your yard clear for the next order.

Regular customers can open a trade account so all deliveries go on one monthly invoice, with each job still priced on its own. Email us to ask for the trade account form.

Steel and precast questions

What does HIAB steel delivery involve?

We collect the steel from the fabricator or stockholder, carry it to site and lift it off with the lorry mounted lifting arm, landing it where your team wants it. One lorry and one driver handle the whole delivery.

Do you deliver precast concrete?

Yes. Slabs, panels, kerbs, culvert sections and other precast units are among our regular loads. Tell us about the units and the site and we will plan the lift.

Can you collect from a fabrication works?

Yes. We regularly load inside works buildings and yards, then deliver straight to site so the steel only travels once.

How do you handle long beams?

Long sections travel on artic HIABs or extendable trailers, and some are lifted by two HIABs working together to keep them level. We plan this before the job is booked.

Can you deliver to a live construction site?

Yes. Let us know the site rules, delivery windows and where the steel needs landing, and we will book the run to suit your programme.

Steel or precast to deliver?

Send us the collection and delivery addresses, a list of the pieces and any site photos. We will plan the lift and send you a price.
