Plant and machinery

Machinery transport across England, Scotland and Wales

Plant, factory machines and industrial equipment collected, carried and lifted off with a planned lift, using the vehicle that suits the load.

Machine movers

Plant and heavy machinery transport with a HIAB

Hiab Haulage moves machines for manufacturers, plant hire companies, engineers, quarries, recycling firms and contractors. We are based in Manchester and our drivers collect and deliver equipment across England, Scotland and Wales.

Because our lorries carry their own lifting arm, a machine can be lifted off at the delivery point and set down where it is going to work. That keeps the job simple: one booking, one vehicle and one trained driver who stays with the load from start to finish.

  • Dumpers, conveyors and site plant
  • Factory machines, presses and production equipment
  • Boilers, compressors and plant room equipment
  • Crated, palletised and wrapped equipment

Planning the lift

We plan the move around the machine

Every machine is different, so every lift is planned before the vehicle is booked. We ask what the machine is, how it is lifted, and what the ground and access are like at both ends. That tells us which lorry to send and how the driver will set up.

  • Make, model or a description of the machine
  • Lifting points, frames or crates if it has them
  • Whether the lorry can drive into the building or yard
  • Any doorways, height limits or overhead cables

Factory relocations, new installations and machines going out for repair all follow the same steps. Add up to four photos to the machine moving quote form and we will come back with a plan.

The right vehicle

Low loaders, flatbeds and HIABs for every kind of plant

Tracked and wheeled plant often travels on a low loader, while machines that need lifting off go on a rigid, wagon and drag or artic HIAB. Long items can ride on an extendable trailer, and articulated flatbeds carry crated equipment between factories and depots.

Long and awkward loads

Two HIABs for long and awkward loads

Some machine bases, frames and long sections stay level when they are lifted from both ends at once. For these we send two HIABs and plan the lift so both drivers work together, raising the load off the trailer and setting it down evenly.

See how this works on our dual HIAB lifts page. If your project also involves beams or frames for a new building, our steel and precast delivery service covers those.

Machine moving questions

What kinds of machinery transport do you handle?

We move site plant such as dumpers and conveyors, factory machines, boilers, crated equipment and machine parts. Tell us about the load and we will plan the vehicle and the lift.

Can you lift a machine off inside a building?

Where the lorry can drive in and there is room to set the stabilisers, yes. Our photos include a boiler unit delivered inside a factory. Send us photos of the access and we will plan it.

Can you lift long or awkward machines?

Yes. Long or uneven loads can be lifted by two HIABs working together, which keeps them level throughout. We plan this in advance as a dual HIAB lift.

Do you offer heavy lift haulage?

Yes. Heavy lift haulage is part of our machinery work. We plan the vehicle, the lifting points and the route before the lorry is booked, and for long or awkward loads two of our HIABs can share the lift. Tell us the size and weight of the load if you know them.

Need a machine moved?

Tell us what the machine is, where it is now and where it needs to go, and add a few photos. We will plan the lift and send you a price.
